DOCUMENTS Ricardo Flores Magón: Life and Death of a Mexican Revolutionary
100th year with Sacco and Vanzetti SocietySunday, November 20th, 2-4pm
A political and cultural event to mark the 100th year anniversary of the murder of Ricardo Flores Magón the Leavenworth federal prison.
Ricardo Flores Magón was born September 16, 1873 in Oaxaca, Mexico. He dedicated his life to the causes of freedom and social change to favor the poor in Mexico. In that struggle he became an anarchist, and advocated for the elimination of capitalism and the state. He was a revolutionary writer and journalist. Flores Magón spent a significant amount of his life in prison and died, probably murdered, in a prison in the United States, Leavenworth, Kansas. He died November 21, 1922.
Following the concept that a "dead anarchist is a good anarchist," the current progressive president of Mexico Manuel López Obrador declared 2022 "the year of Flores Magón". In this event, we will analize his work and ideas from a revolutionary perspective and see how those ideas impact us today.
